February Lessons for Archives

Language Arts Lessons

If you are looking for a specific lesson from February, 2013, this is the post to find it on.

Click on HUMPHREY COLOR SHEET  to download and print Humphrey .  This color sheet couples with Carol Heyer's Humphrey's Palm Sunday.

As my eighth and sixth graders come closer to the Scholastic Aptititude Testing, an enriched vocabulary is critical.  This school year, whenever we read literature, they write definitions to vocabulary words from the book. They make definition flash cards or a cartoon flash card using the vocabulary word in a word bubble.  When popping on the computer my middle schoolers click on Spelling City. Entertaining and fun, S.A.T. Vocabulary by Mindsnacks is at the App store if you own a learning tablet like the iPad.

Valentine's Day in Catholic Homes:
Did you know that we aren't really remembering sweethearts and lovebirds on Valentine's Day?  Saint Valentine was a martyr who went to jail for loving Christ.  when he was about to die he left a note for the jailer's daughter to remind her of Christianity.  Saint Valentine signed his letter, Love, St. Valentine, which is where we get the Valentine Love Letter connection.  Love is a good.  God is good.  So celebrating Valentine's Day is a good thing!
