Happy Mother's Day!

Although we have experienced piles of diapers, laundry, dishes and schoolwork; wiped tears away and calmed raging tempers; and we have sacrificed our days and nights for little ones, we continue to clearly see the gifts of motherhood.    Please share your comments after this post:  What gifts do you receive from motherhood?  What gifts do you give to your children, as their special mom?

  1. !My children are my most precious gift. I can't believe that God gave them to me!

  2. My gifts are the giggles I get when my boys have done something really naughty. When they bring a tree frog into the house or track mud into the living room, I shouldn't laugh but I can't help it because they are hilarious and boyish and sometimes clueless. I breathe in that they are so different from me and their sisters. My daughters bring me the gifts of dance and song and drama. They remind me that God created beauty in girls.

  3. I love my children to pieces and I thank God every day for them. Where would I be without them, a more self-centered person than I already am?

  4. I loved watching my kids try all kinds of things to find out what they were good at and find out what they love. Whether it was gymnastics, tennis, skiing, reading, learning programs/games on the computer, traveling or sharing their gifts with others, it was a gift to me (and to them) to see them not be afraid to try new experiences. On Mother's Day, I am reminded how beautiful each individual is as I, again, share in the love and uniqueness of each of 8 grandchildren.

  5. Aren't we all blessed to be mamas?! It is such a gift. My kids remind me of God's faithfulness and for that I will be forever grateful. I love how something simple like a quick trip to a store becomes an exciting adventure for my son. I love his deep laughter and his questions. My current favorite while driving in the car being, " Mama, what does the yellow light mean?" I told him his mom and dad may have different answers to that one;)

  6. My kids have given me the gift of learning true patience and what it is to have a servant's heart. ...although my two are still young and I know there will be much more of that to learn! And I don't think there's any greater joy than hearing "mamaaa!" when I get home - while I know that might stop someday I'm hoping it never does :). I hope I'm giving my kids the gift of the kind of love Jesus wants for them and the gift of teaching them about Him. I am so grateful to Him for the blessing of children! Thank you for giving us this opportunity to reflect on that! :)

  7. I just thought of another one as I was sitting here typing and my oldest is watching a video of garbage trucks...having boys has given me the gift of learning about the different kinds of tractors, trucks, cars, etc, that I never thought I would. ;)

  8. I know just what you mean. I have learned everything there is to know about baseball these last 4 summers and I love it! I never would have had that opportunity if it were not for my boys.

  9. Watching my girls interact with each other and seeing their love for each other makes me feel blessed to be their mom everyday. They love, support and care about each other. (most of the time!) My eldest just got back from a 4 day trip to Chicago with school and her younger sister was lost without her! It was very sweet.

  10. A late Happy Mother's Day to all of you! My children have given me so many gifts. I would hope the greatest is that they help me grow closer to God each day. Through all the joys and trials of parenting, one cannot but be drawn closer to our Lord. I have learned the hard way that nothing can be done except through Him. I am still working on the patience thing even though I am sent daily opportunities to practice the virtue but still seem to fail! I hope I give the gift of Faith to my kids through my example. I would hope that they see joy in all that is around them and learn the lesson to remain childlike for our Lord.

  11. Dana,

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Are you a mom at HFHE? I was thinking about Dana Robran, but just realized I have been following a different Dana R on Facebook. Nice to befriend you! God Bless.
