Immaculate Conception

How I love Mary; and long to be like her. Today my daughter and I went to Immaculate Conception mass together. Praising Mary and singing hymns for her, is a lovely tradition. My daughter is fourteen and admires Mary too, but she is young. Although her desire to emulate Mary may not be as intense as mine, I continue to pray. I pray for our temperaments and words to be gentle and quiet, because that is not our nature. We pray that we will find Mary in our hearts during this Advent season.

Honey for your Heart

In adoration tonight, I prayed for others. I did not ask for anything for myself, but I did not listen to God's answers in the midst of my requests. Still, leaving adoration, I felt as if I had accomplished a lot. Almost as if I could check my prayers off a to-do list.

During the twenty minute drive home I listened to Matt Kelly on Relevant Radio who reminded listeners to join God in a "ten minute classroom," and to be silent and listen to God. Our human nature is to ask others what our next decision should be, hoping people will tell us what we want to hear. However, Mr. Kelly told us, we do not ask God. We rarely sit quietly and listen to God who is all-knowing.

After an hour in adoration, where I never quieted my mind, I had not listened to God. I had talked God's ear off, but I never listened. In the car, the radio went off. I glanced at my car clock and drove home in silence. It was difficult to hear His voice, but I will continue to try, Matt Kelly. I will continue to try dear God.
